Chrissy Wittmann

The Prisoner Wine Company (Senior Director of Winemaking)

Chrissy Wittmann grew up in Burbank, California. Her original intent was to pursue a career in environmental chemistry or in writing environmental impact reports. But when she was introduced to wine chemistry, winemaking and viticulture became her new love. She received a B.S.in Ecology and Systematic Biology from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and later, after she realized her passion for wine, an M.S. in Agriculture and Food Science.

Chrissy initially worked at a winery laboratory and experimental cellar where she gained exposure to the winemaking processes. She then joined Central Coast’s Courtside Cellars for several years, as a winemaker and laboratory manager. At Courtside, she focused on the details of winemaking to ensure high quality processing and positive results.

She joined Wild Horse Winery & Vineyards as winemaker in 2007 after 10 years of winemaking experience at Scheid Vineyards, Courtside Cellars, and Meridian. In 2013 she was named General Manager and Director of Winemaking. She subsequently moved on in 2016 as Director of Winemaking of The Prisoner Wine Company located in Napa. The winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, and red and white blends.

Chrissy, her husband, Jeff, and their two children reside in Napa. Her hobbies include watching and playing sports as well as an occasional trip to Las Vegas.
